Attractions

• Black Gang Chine Niton – A private theme park based near Ventnor, which is as fantastic for young children as it is for adults.

• Isle of Wight Stream Railway – Step back in time with a journey on this vintage steam railway.

• Brown’s Gold, Sandown – Family pitch and put for all ages. This is a great one for Dads and has three courses.
• Amazon World, Arreton – Amazon World Zoo Park has a huge range of rare and exotic animals.

Walks:

• Newport – Cowes – Newport: Try walking from Newport to West Cowes via the cycle path, before crossing the floating bridge and returning via East Cowes.
• Freshwater – Tennyson Monument: This is a steep and demanding walk, but is well worth the effort when you are rewarded by amazing views of the Needles lighthouse and beyond.
• Devil’s Chimney: Located near Bonchurch in the south of the island, this short walk through a narrow cliff gorge makes for a spectacular day out.

• Shanklin – Sandown: Pleasant beach walk that allows you to explore both seaside towns. This is for those with lots of energy.

Towns

• Cowes: The yachting centre of the UK. View the boats and walk along the promenade, or try out the great shops and pubs.
• Godshill: A picture postcard village with gorgeous thatched cottages and tea rooms.
• Ventnor: A vintage seaside town with charm and history in abundance, now with its very own Michelin star restaurant.

Beaches

• St Helens: A little known area with a lovely café and beach.
• Priory Bay: Located close to Seaview, Priory Bay is a stunning tree-lined bay with an outstanding beach and is well off the normal tourist route.
• Yaverland, Sandown: One of the best beaches on the island can be accessed from the main car park opposite The Isle of Wight Zoo. From here, walk left towards the white cliffs.

Restaurants

• The Little Gloster, Gurnard: Very close to Thorness Bay and ideal for fine dining, or any time that the occasion calls for something a bit special.

• Eegons Cowes: Café food and lovely cooked breakfast. Home of the breakfast challenge.
• Bahar Tandoori, Cowes: The yachties’ favourite Indian. Really nice Indian food at a reasonable price.

Pub Food

• The Woodvale Gurnard: Great pub grub, in terms of both value and quality.
• Bargeman’s Rest, New Port: Excellent pub portions.
• Folley Inn, Wippingham (Between Cowes & Newport): Great food in a stunning setting on the banks of the River Medina.

Supermarkets

• Morrisons in Newport, every time.
