Charity of the Year 2013: The Respite Association
This means that the My Holiday Caravan team will be working alongside their counterparts at The Respite Association to support the charity, as well as raising money to help TRA continue their great work.
The Respite Association are a charity providing short term assistance to carers in the UK, many of whom feel overwhelmed and isolated from the wider community. As many carers work what is fundamentally a 24-hour day, The Respite Association team seek to provide these unsung heroes with holidays and some much needed rest.
With over a decade as an established charity, The Respite Association was born out of a recognition of the stresses, strains and lack of support experienced by full-time carers. On May 16th 2001, the charity was formed.
Now, the charity own and operate a holiday caravan on the Richmond Caravan Park in Skegness, Lincolnshire. It is with this unit that they provide breaks for carers, while ensuring peace of mind by providing short term replacement care while they are relaxing.
Use of the unit is free, although a £50 deposit is required to secure the caravan. This is refunded at the end of the stay, provided the caravan is left in good condition. Pictures of the caravan can be found at the bottom of this page.
To apply for a break in the caravan, simply download an application form in Word or PDF format.
